An aspiring young band on a visit to New York come across the latest TV auditions to find the next pop sensation. When lead singer Tony is offered a chance to perform, the other band members give him their blessing. But before he can realise his dream, he is caught up in a tragic sequence of events which leave him fighting for his life…
Left with no memory his dreams are shattered. His only hope lies in the power of the music he loves and his feelings for a girl called Mandy.

ABOUT THE THEATRE
The King’s, Glasgow is one of Scotland’s most historic and significant theatres.
It opened in 1904 as one of the most brilliant designs of the prolific theatre architect Frank Matcham and has played host to top stars and shows ever since. It is home to possibly the very best Christmas pantomime to be seen in the United Kingdom which over the years has featured the Scottish greats including Stanley Baxter, Jimmy Logan, Rikki Fulton, Jack Milroy, Elaine C Smith and Gerard Kelly.
The King’s provides Glasgow’s flourishing amateur groups with a high profile stage and was the location for the opening ceremony of Glasgow’s European City of Culture events in 1990. Above all, it continues to pack in appreciative audiences performance after performance and throughout the year.
On September 30 2002 Ambassador Theatre Group took on the management of the King’s (Glasgow City Council remains the owner). The theatre continues to present first class musicals and pantomime alongside a wider range of drama, dance and comedy.
Restoration 2008 - 2014
A major restoration project is now underway at the King’s, which has been made possible thanks to a substantial initial grant from the building’s owners, Glasgow City Council. £70,000 has also already been generated by the contribution of £1 from every King’s ticket sold. The project would not be possible without the public’s continued generosity and support.
Over the next few years we will be working with Historic Scotland and Glasgow City Council to make changes that will bring the theatre up to the standards rightly expected by today’s audiences. Initially we will focus on seat replacement, air conditioning and bars and toilets. We will carry out the work around our existing programme in order to continue to provide the best in musicals, ballet, opera and pantomime.
The aim is for the King’s to be restored in time for the 2014 Commonwealth Games so the King’s can be enjoyed by the people of Glasgow and visitors alike.
TRAVEL
By Train
Charing Cross station is on the low level line between Queen Street (connections with main line trains and Buchanan Street Underground) and Partick (connection with Underground) stations.
• Turn right outside the station entrance then right again on reaching Bath Street.
• The Kings’ front door is around one hundred yards on your right.
By Bus
Routes 42, 57 and 18 go past the theatre on Bath Street travelling west and along Sauchiehall Street travelling east. For full local timetable information call Traveline on 0870 608 2608. For other bus information, including fares and ticket information, please call 0141 423 6600 between 8.30am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 12.30pm Saturday.
By Coach
Coaches may drop off but not park in front of the theatre. Coach parks are located at High Street (call in advance 0141 552 7276) and Buchanan Bus Station (call in advance 0141 333 3762). Charges apply.
Taxis
There is an official rank on Sauchiehall Street but taxis can be in short supply around the King’s around the beginning and end of performances. You can call for or book a black cab from Glasgow TOA on 0141 429 7070.
ACCESS
The King’s welcomes and provides facilities for elderly and disabled people of all ages.
Wheelchair positions are provided in the rear stalls area with level access from Elmbank Street. Wheelchair transfer seats are also available.
An infra red system is provided in the auditorium. To use this facility please ask for a headset in the foyer.
